Depop Scam

I decided I wanted to sell clothes on Depop. It’s an app where you can buy and sell clothes. I’ve never done it before so I didn’t really know how it worked. That’s when I got an email saying they want to buy my clothes I put for sell. I tapped on the link to sell it to them and it brought me to a different page. In this page it asked for my card information. Which I filled out thinking depop just needed it to give me the money from the clothes I was selling. It started making me fill out lots of other information and that when I started getting kinda skeptical. I thought it was weird I had to fill out this information on safari and not in the app. I look at the links address and it said, depop.lol and that’s when I knew I was getting scammed. A couple days later they were stealing money out of my account so I had to cancel my card. So if you get emails with a link DO NOT TAP ON IT, unless you know it’s trustworthy. Has this happened to any of you?

Oh no! I have definitely learned that so many scams start from emails! A good reminder to always stay in an app or go direct to a companies website. Way to have your guard up once they asked for more information!

I unknowingly ordered from a copycat website. I received a dress that was cheaply made, in the same color but different style. I tried to return it to the company I thought I was ordering from but they had no record of it. Good idea to always double check the web address!
