Should Homework be banned over weekends to maintain work-life balance

I recently went to Italy and notice how well they achieved work-life balance. All the stores and restaurants in an area would be closed for around two hours a day. All so locals can have time in there day to enjoy life. This made me wish I had some time outside of school to enjoy life. With so much homework assigned it’s hard to find time for anything else.  The idea got brought up that if all homework was due during the week it was assigned and we had none over the weekend that would be better. I have to say the idea is nice but I do not think this to be the best idea. Students would be way overbooked during the week days making them more stress to get it done in time. Since they’ll have less time to finish the homework. I think making it so they have a longer time to do it like over the weekend helps students take more time on it helping them better understand the homework. What do you think? Should homework be banned on the weekends?
